A brief description of each sustainability office:
Florida Gulf Coast University's Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) department houses the institution's Sustainability Officer. EH&S supports the University's teaching, research, and public service mission by assisting members of the campus community in meeting their responsibility to ensure a safe, healthy, and sustainable environment for students, employees, and visitors. One part-time student employee (.25) also reports to this position.
Additionally, the Center for Environmental and Society employees a full-time Director (currently vacant), a coordinator, and at currently 3 part-time student assistants (Students total: .5, .25, .25 for a combined 1.0). They support research and scholarly activities relating to sustainability and contribute to many campus-wide sustainability efforts.

A brief description of the activities and substantive accomplishments of the institution-wide coordinating body or officer during the previous three years:
The committee's main goal is to share information across departments and to leverage and amplify events and practices. Recent focus has been on housing and student behaviors including improved recycling signage in housing; Campus-wide litter clean ups; freecycle events; door to door green team to educate residents. Committee has also worked on campus-wide events such as the annual Eagles' Earth Day, October Sustainability Month, Project Green Challenge, Transit Days, and Don't Dump/Donate.

Other sustainability-related committees are the Colloquium Advisory Council, Food Forest Advisory Council, and the Nature Trail Steering Committee
The purpose of the University Colloquium Advisory Council is to review, advise, and approve The University Colloquium: A Sustainable Future curriculum related to: the standard syllabus with learning goals and outcomes, required readings, required field trips, required writing assignments, and required Service-Learning. In addition, the University Colloquium Advisory Council shall address the logistics for transportation to field trips, faculty resources and training, student concerns related to University Colloquium including student grade appeals, petitions for late withdrawals and other course related issues as necessary, and additional Colloquium-related issues as needs arise.
