FGCU is a member of the Advancing Sustainability in Higher Education professional association which supports the advancement of sustainability in higher education by empowering higher education faculty, administrators, staff and students to be effective change agents and drivers of sustainability innovation. AASHE enables members to translate information into action by offering essential resources and professional development to a diverse, engaged community of sustainability leaders.

-The Southwest Florida Regional Resiliency Coalition - The Coalition unites county and municipal governments (within the counties of Charlotte, Lee, and Collier) with natural and cultural resource managers to analyze the region’s vulnerability to the effects of climate change (e.g., sea-level rise, storminess, warming, extremes in precipitation), and to adaptively plan for or mitigate its consequences through the identification and implementation of best practices. -AWRA Florida - The Florida Section of the American Water Resources Association was established in 1971 and has been incorporated as a non-profit scientific organization since 1994. Their mission is to promote understanding of water resources and related issues by providing a multidisciplinary forum for information exchange, professional development and education. Their vision is to be recognized as the preeminent organization for information exchange about water resources issues.

3rd Annual Hanseatic League of Universities Conference - Vectors of Resilience
The 3rd Annual Hanseatic League of Universities Conference was held in Southwest Florida from May 15 – 17, 2023. Hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University, the conference program focused on collaboration, communication, and learning and welcomed leaders, educators, and pioneers in higher education around the globe.

Florida Gulf Coast University submitted a case study to The World University Rankings for Innovation based based on our crisis management after the devastating effects of Hurricane Ian showcasing community resiliency. FGCU ranked third out of the top 50 in WURI's Crisis Management category.

-32nd Annual SOUTHWEST FLORIDA WATER RESOURCES CONFERENCE February 2023
The conference brings together researchers, managers, agency staff, consultants, students and other interested parties to discuss ongoing technical and social research and innovative projects, to share ideas, and to increase awareness of the issues of water supply, water use efficiency, waterbody protection, watershed health, and environmental sustainability facing Florida. This conference had a 14- member steering committee which included 5 FGCU faculty members. A brief description of the mentoring relationship and activities:
FGCU's Environmental Health & Safety's Sustainability Coordinator serves as a mentor in AASHE's Mentorship & Peer Collaboration Program for the Sustainability Coordinators at Clemson University and at Oakton College.

Additionally, the Environmental Education Coordinator for the FGCU Center for Environment and Society has created custom lesson plans and teacher trainings and outreach for Southwest Florida's K-12 public Schools.
