1. Florida Gulf Coast University is part of the State of Florida's Blue-Green Algae Task force that put together a package of policy recommendations that was incorporated into laws that came out of the last legislative session to reduce widespread nutrient pollution which essentially fertilizes algal blooms that can produce toxins linked to a variety of human and animal health problems. https://www.news-press.com/story/tech/science/environment/2020/07/29/blue-green-algae-task-force-members-tackle-algae-warnings-first-meeting-since-october/5511427002/
2. FGCU sought support from State of Florida's governor and with members of the Southwest Florida legislative delegation in an effort to gin up support for the proposed initiative to combat the nutrient's that fuel red tide, red tide's environmental impacts, its economic impact, red tide's impact on human health, the prevention, prediction and mitigation of it and education. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1O4mHzeFyc-TACjx235PLkKIJWySd3qcu/view
