A brief description of how and when the cultural assessment(s) were developed and/or adopted:
FGCU uses the Quality of Residence Life Survey as a cultural assessment for campus residents. Students living on campus are sent an email to complete the survey. Incentives like gift cards, tablets, and other prizes encourage participation. Questions in the survey seek to better understand students’ satisfaction and learning outcomes associated with dining, room quality, and study habits as well as sustainability. Responses are on a 1-7 Linkert scale with one being strongly dissatisfied and seven being very satisfied.

This assessment only targets campus residents. The survey is administered through an online tool that is sent out through an email link to all on campus residents.
A brief summary of results from the cultural assessment, including a description of any measurable changes over time:
The average of the responses to the sustainability survey questions is equal to 5.02. The Quality of Residence Life Survey Executive Summary defines this as “Good”. Although we remain in this category, the scores are declining. The trends in these data show a need for increasing sustainability education as a part of the FGCU residential experience. Please see the additional documentation for more details.
