A brief description of the open access policy, including the date adopted and repository(ies) used:
In 2010, the Provost charged the Information Resources Committee (IRC) to create a five-year Strategic Plan for Technology that is annually updated. In the Strategic Plan for Technology 2012-2017, the IRC tasked the Library with creating an Institutional Repository/Digital Library that would allow open access to electronic theses and dissertations, scholarly publications and archive and special collection materials. Financial and human resources have and continue to be allocated to this project which is currently in progress. FGCU's conversion to electronic theses and dissertations was completed in Fall of 2013.
Florida Gulf Coast University requested that AASHE Staff correct a mistake in this reporting field for the reason specified below.Previous Value: FGCU's open access policy was developed by the Library with the adoption of the common digital library platform, Islandora in March 2012. The digital library will include FGCU's Institutional Repository (IR). The IR will house FGCU's electronic theses and dissertations and scholarly publications, ensuring open access to scholarly research to the global community. The digital library will go live and publicly accessible August, 2014.
Explanation: Added language explaining that the policy to adopt an open access platform was started years ago, despite the IR not being live at this time.
