Various methodologies were used to assess the internal pay equity. This includes:
- A like-for-like gap analysis which compares the same or similar roles of equal or comparable value
- A by-level gap analysis which compares the difference between women’s and men’s average pay within the same employee category
- An overall gender pay gap analysis which compares the difference between women’s and men’s average pay and composition across the whole organisation

According to the Australia Institute's Centre for Future Work, a living wage in Australia would need to be at least 60% of the median full-time earnings. Based on the "Employee Earnings and Hours, Australia" report by The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), the median weekly wage of full-time employees in 2023 is $1,710 AUD.

The calculations include base pay as well as the employer superannuation contribution. 

The Flinders University Enterprise Agreement 2023 to 2026 states that "all continuing, continuing contingent funded and fixed-term staff are entitled to receive a seventeen percent (17%) employer contribution in respect of the salaries prescribed in the Schedules to the Agreement and the terms set out in Clause 21. Casual staff will receive superannuation contributions in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act1992."

Casual staff do not receive leave entitlements but instead receive 25% loading on top of the equivalent salary for non-casual staff. This is e.g. in lieu of personal and annual leave.
