Description of the methodology used to identify low-income students:
In Australia, the sector-wide standard definition for low socio-economic-status (SES) students is based on the postcode of the student's address of origin, with the SES being derived from the Index of Education and Occupation (IEO). Students from postcodes in the bottom quartile of the IEO are considered low SES. As the IEO only covers Australian postcodes, international students are excluded from the analysis.
