Flinders University offers, manages and delivers a number of ongoing education for local government, community organisations and industry. 

Our internationally acclaimed National Centre for Groundwater Research and Traning (NCGRT) is headquartered at Flinders University, which delivers education, workshops, webinars, reading and resources for the local community, including a series of training programs for industry professionals in this field. The Groundwater school is highly reputable being in existence since the 80s with training sought after internationally and nationally by government and industry stakeholders. Topics include groundwater dependent ecosystems, groundwater contamination and remediation, water law and policy. More information can be found here: 
Established in 2009, the centre boasts a national and international profile with industry leading research and building public awareness for Australian groundwater science – allowing students to make an impact in this exciting and growing industry.

Environmental Health
Flinders University upskills staff in local government councils and community organisations through the Graduate Diploma of Environmental Health Practice that enables and trains environmental health officers. Environmental health is the study of how the environment impacts on our health - the physical, biological, chemical and sociological factors that affect our health, such as water, food, air, buildings and waste. Topics cover areas such as environmental health concepts, human systems in environmental health, sustainable development - health issues, legislation relevant to environmental health and microbiology and communicable diseases. Nano Microplastics Research Consortium (NMRC)
The NMRC is a multidisciplinary research consortium working with industry and government partners, that aims to establish best analysis practises and collect data on the environmental occurence of nano and microplastics, and to look at their effect on human health. One of the services for this research consortium is to provide training on facilitites and instruments to staff from industry partners, enabling cost effective measurements on state of the art equipment to measure nano and micro plastics.

Community Archaeology Field School 
Co-designed and co-taught by Aboriginal Elders and Flinders University staff, this cross-disciplinary short course will teach participants how to undertake ethical and culturally sensitive research with Aboriginal peoples.This field school provides a unique opportunity for learning and personal growth while sharing daily life with Aboriginal Australians in a remote area of Australia. 

The themes for this topic are:
Rock art and cultural landscapes
Heritage, health and wellbeing
The sophistication of Aboriginal social systems
Aboriginal people in the modern world

Flinders Closing the Gap Program 
This program has been developed to improve the health outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living with, or at risk of developing chronic conditions, by empowering them to manage their health and well-being. Health practitioners can play a vital role in developing the self-management capacity of the people they work with.

For nearly two decades the Flinders Program team has delivered training in chronic condition management and risk factor management, based on the underlying principles of self-management. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Australia have contributed to the development and refinement of the program to meet the cultural needs of their communities, many of whom continue to inform the development of resources and are involved in the delivery of training.
