TP Physics and Molecular Sciences (within College of Science and Engineering)
The STEM3001 topic (Science Connect) is intended to simulate work experience. Students are asked to do a real life project. For example:
- A group of students undertaking STEM3001 conducted a research project for a reusable lunchbox trial in partnership with the Flinders University Student Association (FUSA). This project was aimed at educating and incentivising staff, students, and retailers to reduce food packaging waste on campus. Students also had to research on sustainable and practical lunchbox designs and materials (2023)
- A group of students from STEM 3001 created a research survey to understand students’ knowledge, behaviour, and attitude towards waste management and to gather feedback on how resource recovery could be improved on campus. The collected data was valuable in supporting the development of the new bin signage (2023).
