The name of the national or international sustainability network(s):

The institution is a member of the SDSN (Sustainable Development Solutions Network) Canada. A Pan-Canadian network of post-secondary institutions, hosted by the University of Waterloo and the Waterloo Global Science Initiative, to advance the UN SDGs.

To increase the accessibility and diversity of sustainability-oriented training for faculty, AASHE partnered in 2017 with 13 Centers for Sustainability Across the Curriculum to offer workshops and other professional development opportunities on sustainability in the curriculum. Fleming College demonstrates exemplary practice as one of the selected Centres and has hosted 3 workshops, open to all institutions (e.g. 21 institutions were represented in June 2019). These Centers were selected through a competitive application process.

The goal of the Centers for Sustainability Across the Curriculum program is to accelerate the infusion of sustainability content into the curriculum. Each center is expected to schedule at least one faculty-oriented workshop annually and develop its pedagogy and content for these workshops.

SHECA 2018 - Sustainability in Higher Education Conference, the first Canadian conference with the theme of "Campus as a Living Lab - Moving Forward Together", hosted by Canadian College and University Environmental Network and the Canadian Alliance of College and University Sustainability Professionals. With attendees from universities and colleges across Canada, Fleming's Chair of Indigenous Studies presented on Social Justice Perspectives and Priorities.

Yes

Yes. Fleming College sits on the Steering Committee of Sustainable Peterborough and participated in its working groups including those developing a Climate Action Plan for the region. Fleming was part of the steering committee for the City of Kawartha Lakes Healthy Environment Plan, published early in 2019.

Fleming College sits on the Trent Environmental Advisory Committee to share knowledge and best practices on Sustainability on campus. Trent University and Fleming College have signed an MOU to strengthen ties between their School of the Environment and School for Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences respectively- building on existing transfer agreements for programs such as Sustainable Agriculture and a joint degree in Ecological Restoration.

Yes

A brief description of other collaborative efforts around sustainability during the previous year:

Fleming College participates in the Ontario College and University Sustainability Professionals Network on a year-round basis that engages in ongoing best practice sharing between members. The collaboration included co-hosting the AGM and conference ( e.g. OCUSP AGM, 2019). Fleming currently holds the seat of the College Co-chair of this Network.
