A brief description of how the institution ensures that its lowest-paid workers (including contractors, if applicable) receive sustainable compensation:
Sustainable compensation is ensured through the fact that the compensation for Fleming workers is covered by two collective agreements: one for full-time faculty and one for full-time support staff.
In addition, the compensation structure falls under the provincial college employer council, which requires a survey every year regarding administrative employee pay. The survey compares Fleming pay rates to other organizations, and results in pay guidelines being provided to Fleming.
Fleming utilizes 3rd part contracted services in the areas of security, cleaning, food service, and the bookstore operation. With the exception of the bookstore contractor, all employees of the contractors are covered by their respective collective bargaining agreements and all make above the provincial minimum wage. The lowest paid bookstore employees make minimum wage.
