A brief description of how the institution safely disposes of hazardous, universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:
Fleming utilizes the services of 3rd party contractors ( Photech Environmental / Environmental Control Systems) to ensure that hazardous waste is disposed of properly and safely.
The process used by Fleming to deal with hazardous waste is as follows:
1) Faculty / Staff notify Facilities team that they have hazardous waste to be picked up.
2) Facilities team picks up and takes to secure storage area (i.e. HazMat room at Sutherland Campus)
3) Once a certain volume has been accumulated, the Facilities Team notifies the contractor to come and pick up / transport / dispose of the hazardous waste.
4) The proper disposal of the hazardous material is verfied through receipt of signed documentation from the Ontario Ministry of Environment.
