A brief description of the trans-fats avoidance program, policy, or practice:
Aramark has comitted to be 100% free of artificial trans-fats in all of our recipes. The company uses non-trans-fat HiLo canola oil in the fryers of our operations across the country. Aramark emphasizes the use of fresh ingredients in all of our standardized menu options whenever possible. For those recipes which require margarine or canola, our supply chain has only authorized the use of products with no hydrogenated oils. This has been the case since it was decided at an Aramark Canada symposium on nutrition in June 2010 that the reduction of trans-fats was one its highest priority goals. We have also put pressure on our supplier partners to make trans-fat-free products available where none existed previously. Aramark has been very successful at removing artificial trans-fats from all of our operations across the country.
