A brief description of the student group, including its activities:
At our Sutherland campus, "GO (Green Objectives) At Fleming" is an environmental initiative consisting of Fleming College students who together form the "Go Team". The volunteers involved pursue either "Green Focus" initiatives or "Social Focus" initiatives. Past initiatives have included our Fleming H20 water refill station initiative, holding a "buy nothing" day (annual), holding world water day events (annual), and holding and Amnesty International "Write for Rights" event which will be repeated this year. Frost Initiative is also a student led group that focuses on campus, community and global sustainability issues and works with administration and the Frost Sustainable Campus Initiative to address sustainability issues on campus - puts on events, and education and awareness building. In addition to activities noted above, the Frost Initiative has spearheaded creating a bottle water free campus (2009), and has held the Embracing Gaia Art Show and Silent Auction each year for the last 3 years. The event provides an opportunity for local artists to showcase their work and to help raise funds to support campus sustainability initiatives along with sustainability projects in the City of Kawartha Lakes
