A brief description of the diversity and equity committee, office and/or officer, including purview and activities:
1. Director of EDI onboarded in Nov. of 2021, oversees the strategic direction of EDI work at the College. College has an EDI team responsible for EDI strategy, education, training, and direct support for College community members, including an Anti-Racism Specialist and a team dedicated to fulfilling the aims of the federal government's 50 - 30 Challenge.
2. EDI & Anti-Oppression Task Force launched in Summer of 2022. Task Force is facilitating the creation of an EDI Strategy and Action Plan. Link to Terms of Reference: https://public.myfanshawe.ca/Policies/CPM%20College%20Policy%20Document%20Library/Policy-Related%20Documents/TOR38.pdf
3. EDI related efforts including a) Campus Violence Awareness & Prevention Group: see attached Vision, Mission and Values and view website http://www.fanshawec.ca/violenceprevention

5. International Advisory Committee: provides advice to the Executive Director, Fanshawe International and appropriate College areas on matters relating to the

- EDI participates in faculty meetings, discussions and presentations and outreach
- EDI participates in Support Staff and Residence Staff training and awareness workshops
- EDI hosts monthly video series to raise institutional awareness around different equity-deserving topics: MMIWG, Islamic History month, Asian New Year, Black History month, Women’s History month, Disability awareness month
- EDI hosts monthly events and social media campaigns to recognize, celebrate and raise awareness around different dates of significance celebrating equity-deserving groups
- The Fanshawe Student Union and the International student centre have each historically been the key focal points on campus for celebrating cultural and International events and dates of significance for students like the Moon cake festival, Asian History month, Ramadan, Eid el Fitr dinner, Holi. The FSU is also the venue through which students can form their own groups (Muslim students association, Spectrum club etc)
- The Counselling and Student Life office hosts multiple events, student groups and awareness campaigns during the academic year to assist students who identify with various mental health and learning disabilities: Autism Awareness day (as well as an Autism student group), mindfulness yoga, mental health awareness,
- EDI collaborates with the Institute of Indigenous Learning to support National day for Truth and Reconciliation
- EDI participates in faculty meetings, discussions and presentations and outreach
- EDI participates in Support Staff and Residence Staff training and awareness workshops
