Does the institution host a peer-to-peer textbook exchange program, textbook lending library, or alternate textbook project?:
Yes
A brief description of the textbook exchange program, textbook lending library, or alternate textbook project:
The Library Learning Commons (LLC) provides some textbooks, but primarily supplies supplementary materials in its physical and electronic collections. The LLC does, however, support and promote Zero Textbook Cost iniatitives across the college. In conjunction with the Copyright Services Officer and the OER Design Studio, Librarians promote Zero Textbook Costs (ZTC) to faculty to provide free or inexpensive textbook materials for students. This includes creating or adapting open textbooks with the OER Design Studio, linking to library-licensed or open access materials, and the creation of custom coursepacks. Custom coursepacks are available to students at cost.
Does the institution provide incentives for academic staff that explicitly encourage the authorship, peer review, and/or adoption of open access textbooks?:
Yes
A brief description of the incentives to encourage the authorship, peer review, and/or adoption of open access textbooks:
The College provides grant funding and support to faculty interested in adapting and creating OER. Additionally, the College provides other incentives for peer review through gift cards. There are no incentives provided for the adoption of materials, but the OER Design Studio and the Library Learning Commons provides guidance and support for those adopting OER or ZTC.
