A brief description of the institution’s program to support employee volunteering:
Every year, a Fanshawe employee is seconded as a United Way Sponsored Employee.
The Sponsored Employee (SE) Program is a full-time seconded position that presents the employee with a unique professional development opportunity to further develop skills in facilitation, training, public speaking, project management, community development and fundraising.
The 16 week, full-time assignment involves working alongside people from many sectors, provides extensive training, and a deeper understanding of the people in the community that United Way serves.
· Fanshawe participates in the UW secondment program every year.
· The opportunity is posted and any full-time employee of Fanshawe College is eligible to apply.
· This involves paying for the salary of an employee seconded on a full-time to assist in fundraising activities from August – December (16 weeks).
· Fanshawe also fundraises in a variety of ways during the campaign and members at Fanshawe manage the program.
