Residence Energy Conservation Challenge

Students in Fanshawe's 3 residences compete every February to reduce energy and water usage. Students are given tips and daily updates to encourage participation. The winning residence gets a pizza party to celebrate.
The College has also organized a waste reduction campaign directed at both students and employees.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
"Overall energy reduction in each residence over the course of the challenge.
Increased awareness of student impact on energy consumption and ways they can make a difference"
The waste reduction campaign increased reuse rate and raised the awareness of waste diversion (paper coffee cups go to compost).

United Way
A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged (2nd campaign):
Fanshawe's United Way committee is proud to announce that you have helped surpass our 2017 United Way campaign goal. College staff, students, alumni and retirees have made the largest contribution in Fanshawe's history, a record-setting $116,114.72 donation to the United Way!
This all-campus total, which reflects funds raised through payroll contributions, as well as fundraising events and student activities, was distributed to United Way agencies across each of Fanshawe's four campus communities in London, Woodstock, St. Thomas and Simcoe.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):
"It's always wonderful to see the response of our Fanshawe family to the needs of our community, even in a year as challenging as 2017 was," said campaign chair Candace Miller. "We're thrilled to have helped touch so many lives through the efforts of United Way sponsored agencies in our region. This kind of support is so important and makes such a powerful difference in the lives of our students, colleagues, friends and neighbours."
Fanshawe has surpassed the $100,000 mark for eight years in a row. Our total contributions to the United Way amount to more than $1.5 million since the College began donating.
