A brief description of the program, including examples of peer-to-peer outreach activities:
The Sustainability Student Assistant helps the Sustainability Office with all engagement activities and resources. They are tasked with attending college-wide events to spread the word about sustainability, develop new and exciting engagement opportunities, work with the Fanshawe Student Union to make sure sustainability is involved in all events and themed weeks. They are also responsible for regular social media updates and writing articles for the student newspaper.

Students apply online through Fanshawe Career Services and go through an interview process.

A brief description of the formal training that the student educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach:
The Sustainability Coordinator provides all training necessary to help students be as successful as possible.

A brief description of the financial and/or administrative support the institution provides to the program (e.g. annual budget and/or faculty/staff coordination):
All student employees are paid minimum wage. Work is organized and supported by the Sustainability Coordinator.

The Sustainability Coordinator attends orientation sessions to bring the message of sustainability to students when they first arrive at the College, and how they can help make a difference. A very similar presentation is given in classes during the first two months of each semester to new students, to directly engage any who did not attend the orientation sessions. Between 30-50 presentations have been conducted each semester sicne the program began, with an average of 15 students attending each one.

If a Sustainability Assistant has been hired, they will assist with presentations, to make it possible to have more completed in less time. Otherwise, all are done by the Sustainability Coordinator.

The Sustainability Coordinator provides all training necessary to help students be as successful as possible.
