Does the institution include sustainability prominently in new student orientation?:
Yes
A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:
At Fanshawe College, orientation is done a little differently. There is not one large event that all students go to. Instead, each program has their own orientation. Because of this, we are unable to attend all orientations, however, the Sustainability Coordinator has been invited to Fall and Winter orientation sessions to give a talk on sustainability at the College and as many as possible are fit in. During the first month of each semester, a presentation is given to new students in their classes, discussing sustainability at the college and how they can get involved and make a difference.
The Fanshawe Student Union does hold a welcome BBQ during fall move-in. This is a zero-waste event that promotes Fanshawe's sustainability commitment to new students when they first arrive here at the college.
Every semester, each new students gets a package from the Fanshawe Student Union that contains a travel mug and reusable water bottle. Also, those students who purchase a Rez Kit (residence package) will receive a reusable water bottle in that package as well.
