Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Evergreen Climate Café
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
Evergreen's Center for Climate Action and Sustainability (CCAS) has implemented an innovative weekly event called the "Climate Café" as part of our sustainability initiatives. The Climate Café serves as a welcoming space for students and external community members to come together over a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate and either engage in climate discussions or take mindful time away to recharge. Attendees have the option to engage in various activities, such as socializing at the SustainabiliTEA corner to sip and chat, finding a quiet corner in the Nook to read or enjoy some music in solitude, or even indulge in mindful relaxation through Solarpunk coloring sheets for adults. Additionally, the Climate Café has also been instrumental in hosting our Greener Sustainability Network (GSN) events, which foster collaboration and communication among campus leads and interested students. The GSN serves as a roundtable talk where individuals can connect with others working on similar or related missions or projects, creating opportunities to break silos and ensure efficient coordination of upcoming sustainability events on campus. The first quarterly GSN held 8 people, the second one had 50 attendees where also introduced our new/revived project archive the Greener Sustainability Project Network (GSPN) to collect, store, and pass along ideas/unfinished projects between student generations.
