A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support underrepresented groups within the student body:
Estrella Mountain Community College provides the following services and opportunities for under-represented groups within the student body, including:
* Counseling Services
* Disability Resource Services
* Emerging Scholars Program (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics students)- As the recipient of this needs-based grant from the National Science Foundation, Estrella Mountain students receive up to $5,000 that can be used for tuition, books, and other college expenses. The program also provides access to a mentor that will guide them through those tough equations, formulae, and provide answers to those career questions that may arise.
* Peer Mentors Program
* Development of student/faculty/staff mentorships.
* Title V funding to improve the educational performance of students as a Hispanic-serving institution.
Student Organizations that support under-represented studnets (Men of Color Association, Asian Pacific Islander,Bilingual Student Nursing Association, Gay Straight Alliance, etc.)
Note: Estrella Mountain Community College is part of the Maricopa Community College district, and although EMCC is individually accredited, many policies and procedures are shared through the District Office.

Campus Maricopa Council on Black American Affairs (MCBAA) chapter - The Council focuses on: the recruitment, retention and success of African-American students-American employees; and collaborative partnerships.
Women’s Leadership Group (WLG) -
The mission of the Maricopa Community Colleges Women's Leadership Group (WLG) is to provide for the continuous development of a strong and supportive work environment for the diverse women of the Maricopa Community Colleges. WLG membership is open to all district employees.
Note: Estrella Mountain Community College is part of the Maricopa Community College district, and although EMCC is individually accredited, many policies and procedures are shared through the District Office.
