A brief description of the program or practice:
Estrella Mountain Community College's landscaping techniques are documented in the Campus Master Plan. The plan outlines the plant materials in use in the various areas and describes these areas or zones as: the perimeter zone, transition zone, oasis and gardens. Essentially, arid or desert plant materials are located at the perimeter of the campus, with the plantings becoming lush towards the center of the campus or at the garden and oasis zones. This strategy provides over 80% coverage with low water use native plant materials and decomposed granite.
