A brief description of the institution’s sustainability partnerships with the local community:

Estrella Mountain Community College has partnerships with various organizations in the local community in which we work together to advance sustainability within the community.

• EcoAvenues is community event hosted by Estrella Mountain in partnership with the west valley cities of Avondale, Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Tolleson, Buckeye and the SouthWest valley Chamber of Commerce. This annual event which began in April 2010 showcases the environmentally friendly products, services, education and activities from business and organizations throughout the valley. www.ecoavenues.com

• Leadership West is a non-profit organization that cultivates leadership capital for the West valley. Its diverse membership believes that intelligent, active engagement in public affairs is the true measure of citizenship and the foundation for the community. Estrella Mountain partners with classes from Leadership West and hosts sustainability-related presentations and events. http://www.leadership-west.org/index.html

• The Environmental Fund for Arizona is the only green workplace giving organization in the State of Arizona. Estrella Mountain partners with EFAZ and holds annual workplace giving campaigns which yields funds for 29 environmental organizations in the state. http://www.efaz.org/
