Does the institution make cultural competence trainings and activities available to all employees?:
Yes

A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:

Estrella Mountain Community College's Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) partners with the Maricopa Community Colleges District to provide formal training in areas of cultural competence. For instance, EMCC employees are encouraged to complete MOSAIC, (Maximizing Our Strengths as an Inclusive Community) a six workshop series that explores issues of diversity and inclusion, understanding the impact of bias on an organization, and assist the participants in developing knowledge and skills such as intergroup communication. Faculty can also participate in the Diversity Infusion Program, which “enhances the ability of faculty to create an inclusive learning and teaching experience that promotes positive change on both individual and social levels through the infusion of diversity into the curriculum. “ EMCC has several faculty participate in this training each year. Finally, the CTL can support and implement trainings, brown bag lunches, and events around cultural competence.
