Name of the institution’s featured sustainability program, initiative, or accomplishment:
College Cleanse Move Out Donation Collection Program

A brief description of the institution’s featured program, initiative, or accomplishment:

Each year at Move Out, a dedicated team made up of the Office of Sustainability and Community Service staff, in addition to student, staff, and community volunteers work to divert waste from the landfill by recovering items to donate for reuse from students. Collection bins are placed in the lobbies of each dorm to collect unwanted books/school supplies, clothing and shoes, non-perishable food, and dorm supplies which otherwise would have ended up in the landfill; these items are then sorted and donated to a variety of nonprofits in the area to go to people in need. The 2023 College Cleanse initiative collected over 8,000 lbs of items, at an estimated value of $29,000. The campus as a whole has an average annual diversion rate of 50% via recycling, specialty recycling, composting, and reuse initiatives.
