Coastal Resiliency, Vulnerabilities, and Seawall

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

The College recently partnered with the City of Beverly to develop its Coastal Resiliency Plan and is looking to expand upon this document for a more focused plan for the campus. The Office of Sustainability is also participating in the City's ongoing Municipal Vulnerability and Preparedness (MVP) program that is statewide.

Endicott has several large portions of seawalls and three private beaches. Our location provides a unique opportunity to develop a plan and vulnerability assessment that directly relates to sea level rise and increased frequency and strength of storm events caused by climate change. The College is exploring rebuilding portions of our seawall damaged in storms last year, to meet new FEMA floodplains and incorporate future sea level rise.

This process provides a great opportunity to use our campus as a living lab and engage our faculty and students.
