A brief description of how the institution meets the criteria:
Emory University and Procurement Services are committed to the development of business relationships with diversity suppliers that can add value to our institution and help us achieve our research, education and business objectives. It is our goal to identify and include qualified diversity suppliers when we purchase the products and services required by Emory faculty and staff.
In keeping with this commitment, Emory’s Supplier Diversity Program is designed to provide new business opportunities to qualified diversity businesses. Procurement Services works in collaboration with the GMSDC (Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council) to assist diversity suppliers with the challenges of meeting Emory’s business and procurement requirements. The University actively encourages participation by small and underutilized businesses in its purchasing programs. Membership in the GMSDC is the primary program used to promote these business opportunities.
In accordance with Federal guidelines, Procurement Services seeks to include in the competitive bidding process:
• Certified Small Disadvantaged business (SDB)
• Certified Minority–owned Small businesses (MBE)
• Certified Woman–owned Small businesses (WOSB)
• Certified Veteran–owned Small Business (VOSB)
• Certified Service Disabled Veteran–owned Small businesses (SDVOSB)
• Certified Historically Underutilized Business Zone Small businesses (HUBZone)
This policy is set forth in accordance with the University’s strong commitment to the principles of Executive Order 11246 and Public Law 95-507 and their implementing regulations and is designed so that the University’s business practices and procedures are in compliance with them. All vendors, regardless of size or classification, have the same opportunity to become suppliers to Emory University.
