Does the institution have a post-consumer food waste composting program?:
Yes

A brief description of the post-consumer food waste composting program:

Emory has partnered with Greenco Environmental, the leading organic recycling company servicing the Southeast, to establish a comprehensive composting program for Emory's campus. The following facilities on campus are participating in Emory's post-consumer composting program: The DUC Residence Dining Hall, Cox Hall, Fraternity Row dining facilities, Emory University Hospital dining cafeteria and Wesley Woods. Composting is also available for special events involving food residuals.

Post-consumer food waste is scraped off plates and collected by Emory's Dining Services staff and deposited into special bins that are serviced by Greenco. Some of the compost produced at Greenco's facility is then bought back by the Emory Grounds Department and used for on-campus grounds maintenance.

The following can be composted through the program.

FOOD RESIDUALS:
*meat, poultry, fish
*shellfish and bones
*eggs and dairy products
*table scraps and scrapings
*fruits and vegetables
*bread, dough, pasta and grains
*coffee grounds, filters & tea bags

FOOD-SOILED PAPER:
*paper towels, napkins and plates
*paper take-out containers
*pizza boxes
*paper cups
*waxed cardboard and paper

COMPOSTABLE PRODUCTS:
*products made from bagasse (sugarcane fibers)
*PLA products (corn-based)
