A brief description of the institution’s formal community partnership to advance sustainability:

Green Ribbon Commission, or GRC, is a group of leaders in Boston working to develop shared strategies for fighting climate change. They seek to help meet Boston’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. The commission plays three important roles in advancing this goal. First, GRC advises the City on the implementation of its climate action plan. Second, GRC members engage sector leadership in aligning their assets and initiatives to support the plan outcomes. Third, GRC members demonstrate best environmental practices. Emerson is involved in the GRC through the Higher Education Working Group (HEWG) and the Cultural Institutions Working Group. The HEWG seeks to use leadership to enable the higher education sector to meet the climate plan emissions reductions targets. The Cultural Institutions Working Group seeks to lead climate action through creativity, education, and facility energy efficiency and resilience.
