A brief description of the incentives to encourage the authorship, peer review, and/or adoption of open access textbooks:
The Student Government Association (SGA) Open Educational Resources (OER) Grant is intended to support OER use to manage course costs for Elon undergraduate students. It is available to projects proposing adopting, adapting or creating OER for courses open to undergraduate students.
Any instructor of record for a credit-bearing course open to Elon undergraduates may submit proposals describing a project to: adopt an existing open educational resource (up to $2,500); adapt existing open educational resources to instructional needs (up to $5,000); create an open educational resource to meet instructional needs (up to $7,500).
Grants are awarded based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the potential course cost savings, the needs of the proposed project, the complexity and volume of work required for successful completion of the initiative and the reach/impact of the project outcomes for Elon students and the broader academic community.
