There is an extensive network of sidewalks throughout campus, which cyclists and pedestrians share.
Elon facilitates carpooling through Share the Ride NC with an Elon specific website that helps users find carpool partners.
The university operates the Elon Express bus system, which consists of several routes available to students, faculty, staff and community members. The buses run on B10 bio-diesel. The routes provide service to nearby apartment complexes and local shopping and entertainment centers, including a grocery store and movie theater. All routes are free and open to the public.
In early Spring 2020, Elon started a pilot Emergency Ride Home Program to reimburse eligible faculty/staff commuters for a qualified emergency ride home from work a maximum of four times in a fiscal year. This program remains available to eligible faculty/staff commuters.
