A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):
During new employee orientation sessions (staff and faculty), a brief overview of Elon's commitment to sustainability is provided by the Director of Sustainability. The inclusive definition of sustainability is shared as well as Elon's carbon neutrality goal. New employees are provided information on alternative transportation options, waste reduction and ways to contribute to Sustainability at Elon.
Similar sustainability information is shared at Joining Elon, which is an orientation program offered by the Office of Leadership and Professional Development once every six months for staff members who have been at Elon less than one year.
