A brief description of the methodology used to determine the total number of courses offered and to identify sustainability course offerings, including the definitions used and the process for reviewing and/or validating the course inventory :
The total number of courses offered was determined from a report of 16-17 course offerings provided by the Registrar's office after applying the factors identified below regarding multiple sections and course types.
The course inventory from the previous STARS report was reviewed to ensure the courses were offered in the 16-17 academic year and still meet the criteria in the STARS Technical Manual. In addition, the 16-17 Academic Catalog, Summer 2016 schedule, Winter Term 2017 schedule and graduate programs were reviewed for additional courses that fit the definition of sustainability course and course that includes sustainability provided in the STARS Technical Manual. Any questions were directed toward the department chair/program coordinator or faculty member for review. The identified courses were cross-referenced with the 16-17 undergraduate and graduate course schedules to ensure they were offered in the 16-17 academic year. The numbers used in the STARS Report represent the courses offered in the 16-17 academic year. The list available at the website provided also includes courses that were in the 16-17 Academic Catalog or program information but not offered in the 16-17 academic year.
How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Each course was counted as a single course regardless of the number of offerings or sections
