A brief description of the program or practice:
The college uses native plantings, which require little watering, whenever possible. The college Grounds department also works closely with the the Horticulture academic department to align classwork/learnings with college plantings. Some of our irrigation is on controllers, but most are hand operated, or we choose to not turn them on and let nature handle the watering. We have stopped install irrigation or use drip in all of our planting beds and plant native or drought tolerant plantings and schedule planting for autumn, so we naturally have the rains to water our plants during their establishing schedule. During the summer, we limit our lawn water to just a couple of main interior lawns and let the rest go brown.
