Furniture and furnishings

- Offer products with packaging that is 100% compostable or recyclable in Quebec.
- Products under contract must be delivered in shipping boxes made of 100% post-consumer fiber.
- Greenguard Certification
- The products supplied under the contract must reduce the presence of toxic products:
1) Adhesives contained in the product are water-based or alternative solvent-based.
2) Coatings (varnishes, paints) are solvent free or solvent alternative.
3) Foams and padding (chairs, partitions) do not contain any H/CFCs (ozone) or flame retardants hazardous to human health (among others: PBDEs, HBCDs, PFOAs, long-chain CFPAs, PFOS).
4) The plastic does not contain any substance that may bioaccumulate or cause cancer to the user. G12
On another note, here are the environmental sustainability criteria listed regarding chairs and loveseats:
- To obtain the ten (10) percent preferred margin, the Supplier will be required to include in its Bid proof that its Equipment meets one of the following certifications:
1. Cradle2Cradle Certifications (www.mbdc.com)
2. Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certifications
3. LEED environmental certifications (www.usgbc.org)
Or demonstrate, in detail, its environmental management program that lists the measures implemented to protect the environment.
- Seat, arms and backrest: high resiliency polyurethane foam "Necor" from Domfoam or Velva or equivalent approved by the Owner, density of the foam varying between 2.4 and 2.7 pounds, polyester cover. Do not use futon type upholstery, upholstery must be free of hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFC), volatile organic compounds (VOC) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).
