The local living wage for one adult:
13.53 US/Canadian $

Percentage of student employees paid a living wage for one adult:
79.70

Information to support the living wage percentage reported above:

Between May 2021 and November 2021, 266 students were paid for student jobs (all types of students). Only 54 students were paid with the rate of $13.50/hour. All others were paid at a rate higher than $13.50/hour and 40 supernumerary students were paid at the union job title step 1 and hourly rate. Thus 20.3% of the students were paid at the minimum wage rate of $13.50/hour. All other student employees were paid more than the provincial minimum wage. For example, according to the salary scales (as of April 1, 2021), support staff employees (even students) are paid a minimum of $22.73/hour.
According to the Institut de recherche et d'informations socioeconomiques (IRIS), the living wage in Montreal for one adult with no child is 28 132$/year. To determine the hourly living wage in Montreal, we have based our calculations on the Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) guidelines for a standard 40-hour work week: 13.53$/hour (28 132$/52 weeks/40 hours).
