The 2016-2019 strategic plan includes SD concepts in various axis. In the "Training" axis, the notions of innovation, entrepreneurship and value creation are put forward. The 2017-2020 Strategic Research Plan clearly identifies sustainable development as the common denominator of its strategy. It is defined as the transversal element of the eight priority research themes. The eight priority research themes are: aerospace, energy, environment, infrastructure and built environments, materials and manufacturing, health, information and communication technologies, and land transport. The strategic research plan states: "Since the role of the engineer is to put science at the service of humanity, ÉTS also recognizes that university-based engineering research must be carried out with a view to achieving positive impacts not only in economic terms, but also in terms of the environment and society, that is, by promoting a focus on sustainable development. » The 2017-2020 Strategic Research Plan : https://www.etsmtl.ca/Recherche/Ressources/Documents-reference/PRS_2017-2020_vcourte_francais.pdf
