A brief description of how the institution ensures that its lowest-paid workers (including contractors, if applicable) receive sustainable compensation:
Eastern Mennonite University compensates all of our employees at the living wage level as found on the MIT living wage calculator. Human Resources also compares many faculty, staff and administratot positions to median salaries for institutions who are a part of the 119 member Council of Christian Colleges and Universities. Positions not listed by the CCCU are compared to the local Department of Labor statistics for the area. The university has consistently paid higher than average wages for the lowest paid employees in the Harrisonburg area. Security personnel, dining services, bookstore and printing services employees are contracted by outside businesses and reported on employees compensation based on the MIT living wage calculator.
