A brief description of the institution’s targeted outreach to recruit students from low-income backgrounds:
The EKU Admissions Office recruits throughout the state of Kentucky but pays special attention to the poorest counties in the state. EKU visits all high schools in eastern and central multiple times throughout the year and provides presentations focused on the needs of low-income, first-generation college students. The Admissions Office also participates in college fairs, college signing days, and award ceremonies. Additionally, the Admissions Office heavily promotes the Trailblazer Scholarship which is an award that helps first-generation students finance their first year of college.
