The Green Crew is a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and friends dedicated to increasing sustainability on the Eastern Kentucky University campus and throughout the community. They foster sustainable campus efforts through education, activism, and personal responsibility. They meet weekly to discuss opportunities and plan events.

Agriculture students can participate in growing, selling, and maintaining native plants and produce by working at the EKU RedBarn. The EKU Community Gardens are open to all students, staff, and faculty members. During the growing season, the Madison County Farmer's Market meets on EKU's campus to sell produce and homemade goods weekly.

Caffeinated Colonels is a student run coffee and tea shop that uses locally roasted, organic, fair trade coffee. It is designed to be a haven for students, both customers and employees, who seek a refuge from the stresses of college life.

EKU has a Sustainability Fund through its Office of Development & Alumni Relations that serves as an account for individuals, groups, and organizations to fund sustainability initiatives on campus. The University also has a separate fund for on site solar energy development called Photons for the Future! This fund provides capital for developing solar PV on site, in which the equivalent energy savings are awarded as scholarships to students each Fall.

The Eco Reps program provides students who live on campus with tools to live more sustainably in their personal lives. Many of our students come from service regions where things like recycling infrastructure may not exist. We provide educational tools through this program to students like the "Resident Sustainability Checklist" and "What Goes Where? recycling flyers.
