A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contribute to the diversion rate for construction and demolition waste:
EICCD Board Policy (provided elsewhere in the STARS report) mandates that new construction projects will be built to LEED standards. Reduction of waste, re-use of materials, and recycling of construction & demolition wastes is written into the scope of work and required for contractors completing the construction projects. Re-use and recycling efforts are documented throughout each project. For the most recent new construction projects at EICCD, diversion rates of 66% (SCC Science Addition) to 86.5% (MCC McAvoy Center) were achieved.
