A brief description of the wildlife habitat program, policy, or practice:
The EICCD Sustainable Grounds Maintenance Plan includes standards for the use of native plantings to increase wildlife habitat. The SCC campus currently has a 5 acre native prairie planting and includes an 80 acre timbered area. White-tailed deer populations are actively managed in this area. In addition, EICCD is a partner in management of the 513 acre Nahant Marsh located in Davenport IA (EICCD does not own this property however). Nahant Marsh is the largest urban wetland on the Upper Mississippi River, and is actively managed as wildlife habitat, and as a protective area for many plant and animal species.
