A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:

In 2019, Eastern earned two workplace accolades: the university was named a “Great College to Work For” for the 10th by the Chronicle of Higher Education, and the Hartford Courant listed Eastern in its "Top Workplaces" rankings for the eighth time--the only public higher education institution honored among 60 "large" organizations.

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:

The "Great College to Work For" survey was administered by ModernThink, a third party human capital consulting firm. Eastern earned outstanding marks in the categories of collaborative governance, facilities, workspace and security. For "Top Workplaces," the survey included 24 statements, with employees asked to assess each one on a scale from “strongly agree” to “strongly disagree.” Topics included organizational direction, workplace conditions, effectiveness, managers and compensation.
