A brief description of the energy management or benchmarking program:
Eastern's Energy Dashboard tracks the electricity usage of the majority of campus buildings. Eastern’s Energy Dashboard is a tool used by Facilities Management & Planning, students and contract consultants to gather information related to electrical consumption of campus buildings. The dashboard provides data on the total energy consumed off of the substation serving the campus. Buildings are individually metered and report data to the dashboard continuously. The facilities staff uses the data to monitor the performance of buildings, it is used as a tool in our retro-commissioning processes, as well as to trouble shoot issues related to energy consumption. The dashboard has also been used to conduct contests amongst residence halls to see which hall can achieve the highest energy savings over a given period. The dashboard also reports the energy produced, low and high grade hot water produced and gas flow rate of the Fuel Cell located at the Science Building. We regularly monitor the fuel cell to ensure that it is performing as specified. The dashboard also reports on the carbon footprint related to the energy use at each building. The dashboard can be used to trend building energy performance over specified periods of time as specified by the user. We use it to measure the effects of our retro-commissioning efforts.
