A brief description of the institution’s sustainability partnerships with the local community:
ETSU partners with a variety of local and regional organizations to advance sustainability. We have ongoing partnerships with our local parks including Bays Mountain State Park, Buffalo Mountain City Park, Exchange Place Living History Museum, General Shale Natural History Museum and Fossil Site, and many others. We also partner with over 181 local service agencies including the Johnson City Housing Authority, Alternative Learning Center, Habitat for Humanity, and various Assisted Living facilities. Our staff and students have partnered with various outside entities to develop local food networks, community gardens, and food banks to address the fight for hunger and nutritional issues. ETSU also partners with various governmental agencies including Keep Johnson City Beautiful, the City of Kingsport, Appalachian Resource Conservation and Development District, and other groups.
