A brief description of the socially responsible investment option for retirement plans:
The university provides employees the choice of a defined benefit plan or an annuity plan. The annuity plan offers three vendors. Employees may participate in one, two, or all three:(1) ING (2) TIAA-CREF, and (3) VALIC. ING offers a social balanced portfolio; TIAA-CREF has a commitment to socially resonsible investing; VALIC offers a global social awarness fund. The state's defined benefit plan, The Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System's mission is to provide superior services to constituents in a cost-effective manner through qualified personnel while maintaining the highest ethical standards.
