A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:
A program has been developed to train interested students to be Diversity Educators for the student population. The Diversity Educator trainees meet weekly to listen to guest speakers, and practice exercises to be used with students. These Diversity Educators go into the resident halls for diversity sessions with students, moderate film discussions with ETSU 100 students, talk to the Preview Orientation Leaders Organization (POLO), and have been invited to train the Johnson City Downtown Clinic Employees. The Diversity Educators work in pairs and their goal is to reach approximately 300 students in a year.
