A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:
Diversity Education session was piloted in the spring of 2003 as a 6 hour classroom style presentation. At the beginning of the fall semester 2003 the members of the President's Council were the first to began ETSU's journey into institutional wide Diversity training. During the following 5 years, 1,347 employees attended out of a possible 1, 887 ETSU employees invited. The goal was for every ETSU employee to have experienced the Diversity Education Program. In January 2010 a new self-paced online Diversity Module was introduced and required of all newly hired employees as part of their orientation program. The purpose of the new online training program is to support the journey of each member of the ETSU community as we move toward cultural competence.
