A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contributed to the diversion rate:
ETSU's recycling program recycles the following materials: paper, cardboard, aluminum, bimetal, plastic and various other items. We also recycle shredded paper, printer cartridges, and various other items. All yard and tree waste is also composted (amount is estimated at 50 tons/year) additionally all surplus items are donated, resold or otherwise diverted. These last items were not included in the overall amount as we do not currently weigh these items. ETSU has also hired a recycling coordinator to manage the program and to supervise the student workers.
